Rendering of the future appearance of Piramida Hill in Maribor

Our visualisations present the future of Piramida Hill, combining heritage, landscape design and a contemporary approach to public space.

Few places in Maribor carry as much historical and symbolic significance as Piramida Hill. Once the site of Marchburch Castle, from which the city derived its name, the hill has remained one of Maribor’s most recognisable landmarks for centuries.

Piramida is set to undergo a comprehensive transformation in the coming years. The project, commissioned by the Municipality of Maribor, includes the establishment of a new vineyard, the planting of traditional fruit tree varieties and pollinator-friendly plants, as well as upgrades to the area’s key infrastructure.

As part of the project, Štajerski Inženiring prepared the conceptual design for an accessible pathway on the rear side of Piramida Hill, the development of pedestrian routes and vineyards, landscape architecture, drainage solutions for the area, the installation of a flag, the arrangement of stairways, and connections to the existing park.

An important part of our work was to bring the individual elements of the redevelopment together into a coherent whole that improves the accessibility and usability of the area while respecting the character, historical significance and landscape features of Piramida Hill.

We also prepared the visual presentation of Piramida’s future appearance. The renderings presented to the public illustrate the planned redevelopment and provide a clearer view of the future of one of Maribor’s most recognisable urban landmarks.

The overall aim of the redevelopment is to create a high-quality space for walking, recreation and socialising while strengthening Piramida’s connection with nature and its rich wine-growing tradition.

We are pleased to contribute our expertise to a project that is important not only from the perspective of spatial planning and infrastructure, but also for preserving the identity and shaping the future appearance of Maribor.
